Slide Embedding Mold
- Utilizes a single-step casting procedure in which stained, fixed tissue sections are epoxy-embedded within special silicone rubber mold to produce three 76 mm x 25.4 mm x 2.2 mm epoxy microscope slides. Once epoxy cures, simply flex mold to release epoxy slides for viewing by light microscopy or for photomicrography. Areas of interest may then be removed and prepared for thin or semi-thin sectioning.

These silicone rubber molds are designed with cavities to accommodate either 11 mm x 22 mm or 22 mm x 22 mm coverslips. After cell
cultures are grown on sterile, teflon-coated coverslips, the cells are fixed and dehydrated. Coverslips are then inverted onto an epoxy-filled cavity of CME mold. After polymerization, separation
is facilitated by immersion in liquid nitrogen. Aids in orientation of cells and components for both light microscopy and electron microscopy. |
