FIRE AND
EXPLOSION HAZARD DATA
Fire: Not combustible, but substance is an
oxidizer and it’s heat of reaction with reducing agents or combustibles may
cause ignition.
Explosion: Strong oxidants may explode when shocked, or
if exposed to heat, flame, or friction.
Fire
Extinguishing Media: Use any
means suitable for surrounding fire.
Special
Information: In case of
fire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing
apparatus with full face piece operated in the pressure demand or other
positive pressure mode.
HEALTH HAZARD
DATA
Inhalation: Moderately hazardous. Coughing, sneezing and breathing difficulty
may be expected, and damage to kidneys and liver may occur after continued
exposure.
Ingestion: Toxicity rating is not high due to low
absorption rate of soluble uranium compounds.
However, GI discomfort with vomiting and diarrhea may follow sizeable
ingestions. Kidneys and liver may be
damaged as well.
Skin: Mildly irritating. Reddening and possible soreness may be experienced.
Eye: Absorption of U salts has been reported. Irritation with reddening of the eye
surfaces, pain and partly impaired vision are symptomatic.
Chronic: Kidney and liver damage.
EMERGENCY AND
FIRST AID
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Get medical attention for any breathing
difficulty.
Ingestion: Induce vomiting immediately. Never give
anything by mouth to an unconscious person
Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with
soap or mild detergent and water. Get
medical attention if irritation develops or persists.
Eye: Wash eyes with plenty water for at least 15
minutes. Obtain medical help
immediately.

Hazardous
decomposition products: Oxides
of nitrogen. Possibly uranium oxide.
Hazardous
polymerization: Will not
occur.
Incompatibilities:
Reducing agents, halogens.
