HEALTH HAZARD DATA
For Magnesium Silicate Hydrate
Inhalation: Coughing, wheezing, difficult breathing and upper respiratory tract irritation.
Eye: Temporary discomfort and irritation.
For Epoxy Resin
Eye: May moderately irritate eyes.
Skin: Irritant. May sensitize susceptible
individuals.
EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID
For Magnesium Silicate Hydrate
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen and call a physician.
Eyes: Flush with water.
For Epoxy Resin
Eyes: Flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Skin: Wipe excess resin from skin. Follow with washing with soap and water.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air and provide oxygen if breathing is difficult.
REACTIVITY DATA
Stability: Stable
Conditions to Avoid: Can react vigorously with strong oxidizing agents and strong Lewis or mineral acids. In reactions with many curing agents, considerable heat is released.
Incompatibility: Strong acids, amines, mercaptans, bases.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Carbon monoxide, aldehydes and acids may be formed.
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur.
SPILL, DISPOSAL AND STORAGE INFORMATION
Cleanup and disposal: should be in accordance with federal, state and local
environmental control regulations.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place with adequate
ventilation. Keep away from open flames and high temperatures.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND CONTROL MEASURES
Respiratory: Not ordinarily required. If resin is warmed or heated, vapors or mists may be produced. In such cases, NIOSH-approved respirator for organic vapors may be used.
Ventilation: Local exhaust preferred.
Gloves: Rubber or plastic.
Eye: Chemical goggles, face splash shield or safety
glasses.

Boiling Point: 404EF
Specific Gravity: 1.65
Vapor Pressure: <1 mm Hg
Vapor Density: 3.5 (air = 1)
Solubility in Water: Partial
Appearance and Odor: Tan, high viscosity liquid strong ammonia-like odor.
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD DATA
Flash Point: 215EF (method = Open Cup)
Extinguishing Media: Use water spray, dry chemical, “alcohol” foam or carbon dioxide
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Use water to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Water spray may be used to flush spills away from exposures and to dilute spills to nonflammable mixtures.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Care must be taken to prevent ignition when processing or handling at temperatures above the flash point.
HEALTH HAZARD DATA
For Quartz
Inhalation: Prolonged overexposure to free silica
dust above the TLV specified above may cause scarring of the lungs with cough
and shortness of breath. A delayed lung injury, silicosis, may result from
breathing free silica. (However this effect is highly unlikely with this
product)
For Magnesium Silicate Hydrate
Inhalation: Coughing, wheezing, difficult breathing and upper respiratory tract irritation.
Eye: Temporary discomfort and irritation.
For diethylenetriamine
Eye: May cause severe irritation.
Skin: May cause severe skin burns. May cause allergic skin reactions.
Ingestion: May cause GI irritation or ulceration. May cause burns of the mouth and throat.
Inhalation: May cause respiratory sensitization or asthma in susceptible individuals.
EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID
For Quartz
Eyes: Wash eyes with large amounts of water
For Magnesium Silicate Hydrate
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen and call a physician.
Eyes: Flush with water.
For Diethylenetriamine
Eyes: Immediate and continuous irrigation with flowing water for at least 30 minutes is imperative. Prompt medical attention is essential.
Skin: Immediately flush skin with plenty water for at least 15 minutes
Ingestion: DO NOT induce vomiting. Give large amounts of water or milk and transport to medical facility.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air.
Incompatibility: Avoid contamination with strong acids.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Thermal decomposition may produce hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur.
Conditions to Avoid: Do not mix large batches of
epoxy resin and Diethylenetriamine without recognition of development of
exothermic heat.
SPILL, DISPOSAL AND STORAGE INFORMATION
Cleanup and disposal: should be in accordance with federal, state and local
environmental control regulations.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place with adequate
ventilation. Keep away from open flames and high temperatures.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND CONTROL MEASURES
Respiratory: OSHA/MSHA-approved organic vapor respirator.
Ventilation: Ventilation should move air over the work and away from the worker.
Gloves: Plastic or Rubber
Eye: Goggles where there is danger of splash.
