Violent or explosive reactions have occurred upon direct contact of glycerol with: sodium hydride, phosphorous trioxide, perchloric acid, chlorine, calcium hypochlorite, nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, sodium peroxide, hydrogen peroxide or potassium permanganate.
