Carbon fiber and thread are used in vacuum evaporators or sputter coaters with a fiber attachment. Approximately 20 Amps is required to evaporate. No sparking of carbon particles. Spectrographically pure.

Turbo Sputter Coater
This unit includes the following:
- Hummer 8 system
- Turbomolecular pump
- Quartz chamber 2 rpm rotating stage (8 inch diameter)
- Roughing vacuum pump with mist filter
- Sample stage - for up to 200 mm substrates
Turbo Sputter Coater, DC sputter head, Chromium - This unit is identical to TSC8 except that it also contains a DC sputter head and a DC power supply expressly for chromium sputtering. Please Note!! Requires water cooling.
Turbo Sputter Coater, RF and DC Power Supplies - This unit has a combination of RF and DC power supplies. Contains a single sputter source. Second sputter source can be added for an additional charge.

Hummer 8 Sputter Coater
For manually-controlled plating and processing. Ideal for low to moderate volume sputtering applications. Integral timer terminates processes at preset durations from 0 to 15 minutes so that operator can work on other tasks. Optional quartz crystal-based digital thickness monitor for accurate readings of sample coating thickness. Please Note!! The Hummer 8 does not have an etch mode.

Hummer 6.2 Sputter Coater with 2 stage pump
The Ladd / Hummer™ 6.2 performs sputter coating, a cold process in which ions impacting a metal source dislodge metal atoms. The atoms disperse throughout the process chamber to uniformly coat irregularly shaped specimens without thermal damage. Sputter coating produces high quality coatings whose thickness is repeatable and easily controlled. Cold, fast sputter rates require less time, giving you more time for microscope examinations.
The Carbon Evaporation Accessory and the Digital Thickness Monitors must be ordered at the same time as the sputter coater and are only available for newly purchased sputter coaters.
Please Note!! The SC6.2TR comes with a 6 inch diameter chamber and with a tilting rotary stage already installed. The chamber for all other 6.2 models has a 4" diameter.
