80:20 mixture of butyl and methyl methacrylates provides a plastic with excellent cutting properties. The hardness of the plastic can be varied by altering the relative proportions of the two components. The medium can be cured chemically or by ultraviolet radiation. We particularly recommend this embedding medium where the medium must be removed prior to staining. This acrylic copolymer is easily removed from the cut section by treatment with acetone or xylene.
