These unitized polyethylene molds have been used quite successfully for holding embedding medium plus specimen material during polymerization prior to ultramicrotomy. Each mold unit makes 10 numbered blocks, 8 mm in diameter, the equivalent of #00 embedding capsules. These blocks have a pyramid-shaped tip 1 mm square, which requires little or no trimming. These polyethylene molds make embedding easy and the see-through tips facilitate rapid specimen orientation. Polymerized blocks can be removed by thumb pressure. Easy Molds come as a free-standing stack of 20 embedding compartments which allows free circulation of air and gives even polymerization.
