Designed specifically for use in scanning electron microscopy. Consists of a heavy nickel plated brass base with securely positioned two sets of upright posts. One set of posts has an extension attachment to hold a carbon evaporation source and the other set holds tungsten basket for metal evaporation. Both sources are shielded by a single annealed Pyrex tube with a carefully proportioned slot in the bottom to enable evaporated material to flow to the specimen. Keeps bell jar clean to provide accurate observation of specimen throughout evaporation. Short circuiting of electrodes by deposited carbon is greatly reduced, as is cleanup time for the entire bell jar. The shield consists of an annealed Pyrex tube mounted between two aluminum discs supported by arms of the carbon evaporation unit. Pyrex glass tube has a precisely proportioned slot to control the flow of carbon to the specimen. this fire-polished tube can easily be removed for cleaning, and will not crack from heat generated during evaporation.
